Over the last 3 weeks, I have had some pretty upsetting phone calls from plus size brides. One call in particular had me in tears. This poor woman had walked in to a David's Bridal Salon because she wore a street size 16, they basically shunned her and treated her like a second class citizen.
She had an appointment and still she had to pull her own dresses and when she found one she liked, the sales associate told her that it wouldn't look good on her anyway! A size 16? Excuse me, I know many women who would be thrilled to be a size 16!
WHAT? I become so enraged when I hear stories about brides who need a wedding dress sized for a real person and are made to feel so self conscious that they don't even want to look for gowns anymore.

This blog entry is very assuring and I love that it is informative for plus size women like myself who would definitely want to get a cheap wedding gown but can't seem to find a place which does so.
Thank you so much for this posting. I have been looking for a wedding dress for ages. And you are right about David's Bridal, they are a bunch of snobs and so very rude. I went there, with an appointment, with my maid of honor and bridesmaids. The associate told me that they could help them (sizes 4, 8 and 12.) but not me because they didn't sell circus tents there. It was dreadful. I left in tears and nearly canceled my wedding. I called the next day and their manager said they would handle it and nothing more. Not even an apology.
I am still getting married, but I have yet to find a dress. Thank you again, so much for this post.
